Safety & Care Information

Having purchased your candle you will likely be keen to light it and enjoy its ambiance and refreshing fragrances. We have compiled a few suggestions that will make the whole experience safer and more enjoyable.

WARNING - Keep out of reach of children and pets. Avoid eye and skin contact. Not for consumption. Always read label on base of candle before use.

Preparing Candle

- Ensure all packaging is removed i.e. all cardboard or soft (pouch) packaging and labelling.
- Ensure the candle container is not cracked, chipped or dented.
- Ensure your candle is positioned out of reach of children and animals.
- Ensure your candle is not in the proximity of any hanging items and flammable decorations, i.e. curtains, fabrics, under shelves, enclosed spaces or soft furnishings etc.
- Ensure your candle is positioned to allow effective dispersion of heat, always check there is sufficient headroom above the candle.
- Ensure your candle is positioned outside of the influence of draughts.
- Ensure your candle will not be influenced by direct sunlight or heat from other sources such as television sets.
- Ensure your candle is placed on a heat resistant non-combustible level flat surface.
- Trim the wick height to 5mm, your candle has been designed and tested to burn most efficiently at this wick height. For correct and consistent trimming of the wick consider using a wick trimmer.

Burning Candle

- Certainly for the first 2 or 3 burn cycles ensure you continuously burn your candle for 3-4 hours (this will depend on the fragrance type and ambient conditions). By doing this the wax pool will spread sufficiently across the diameter of the candle. If the candle is not burnt for a sufficient time it is likely ‘tunnelling’ will occur. ‘Tunnelling’ describes where the candle continues to burns down the container but the burn pool does not spread across the diameter of the candle. As the candle is burnt and the wax level reduces tunnelling will likely become less of a problem.
- Never leave your burning candle unattended.
- Always put candles out when you leave the room and make sure they are extinguished completely before going to bed.
- Extinguish your candle when 10mm of wax remains within the container.
- Be careful as all candle containers can get very hot particularly when the wax level nears the bottom of the container.
- Do not move a burning candle without extinguishing it first.
- Ensure the molten wax pool is kept clear of any debris.
- Ensure children and pets are kept away from your candle, matches and lighters at all times.

Extinguishing Candle

- When extinguishing your candle always use a candle snuffer or alternatively use a metal spoon.
- Never blow a candle out as it may cause hot wax to splash or sparks could fly.
- Never use liquid to extinguish a candle.
- Once your candle has been extinguished ensure it is not smouldering and completely out.
- Always be mindful prior to touching your candle container it could still be hot.
- Although all of our container candles come with metal lids, we advise the lid should NOT be used to extinguish the candle flame(s).

Disposing of Candle

- Always dispose of any residual reed diffuser contents to an approved disposal site, in accordance with local regulations.
